Non-Squirrel Emergency - Forgive Me, but Need Help

Hi all,

It's been a long time since I've posted, but I hope you are all well.

I have an emergency with a fox in my area. Does anyone know of a rehabber in NJ who works with foxes? This fox needs help right away -- has a plastic ring stuck around it's neck and under it's front leg. The area under the leg is bloody, and the fox cannot use the leg. Any help would be GREATLY appreciated, and again, so sorry for posting this non-squirrel request, but I know you all know so many people that you were the first place that came to mind.

Wonder if your local animal control folks are better to help this fox ?? (not fox squirrel)

Hope the plastic around neck is not choking the fox ??

It does not seem to be choking him, but it's definitely injured him and is affecting his mobility.

It seems that there has been some trouble getting someone to come out and help, and with the holiday coming up and all, I was hoping perhaps someone might know of a rehabber who could help if we were able to trap it in a Hav-a-Heart trap. The fox is very food motivated.

Understand the situation. Maybe police or fire dept ?? Hope someone chimes-in. We have good animal control officers here. (I'm west coast, CA.)

They've all been contacted already, but apparently with the holiday and all, it's been difficult to get anyone out there.

Thank you for all the effort. Emergency on holiday is always headache.

All you can do now is give immediate support care of food & water unitl someone responds here or your local resources. I feel bad for the fox and yourself to see this.

Now that holiday is over and maybe regular staff has returned, any help for the fox ??
