Hello all!

We recently moved to Virginia from South Carolina. Unfortunately, I may have to rehome my 3 squirrels because it is illegal to have them here without a permit, whereas in SC it was legal. It breaks my heart to do this, because all 3 of them and myself have a bond. I love them SO much. I have dedicated so much time to them since rescuing them when they were just a few days old. I had plans to release them in the spring. But I know I need to do what’s best for them.

With that being said, does anyone know of any resources for me? Any rehabbers willing to take them? And their food, toys, cage, and vitamins? I live in the Waynesboro, VA area.

I'm unfamiliar with VA law but I'm not even sure SC it's legal most states are not. The only issue is if you need a vet but somehow many others have managed.
I'm not asking you to do something illegal but I know of many in VA with kept squirrels 🤫

It’s legal in SC to have them without a permit in proper housing and under special circumstances. VA requires a permit, which I don’t have unfortunately. We’ll be renting soon so I needed to find someone to take them as soon as possible. 🙁

All I can say is unless you'll move to where you'll have people walking into your house and reporting you, how would anyone know 🤷
I'd just stay under the radar :dono
