Hi all,

New to the board, my partner works as a vet here in the UK. And we recently were given a baby squirrel which was found.

We’ve been caring for it since then over the past few weeks. There is a law over here where we can’t legally release a grey squirrel once caught, so unfortunately there is no good rehab facilities as far as I’m aware. So in respect of this we have taken on caring for him.

I do have a concern in respect of the teeth, I don’t know if it’s a case of malocclusion yet as I think the top teeth have only come in. But they definitely don’t seem to be aligned how they should be.

Is it just a case of the lower teeth being to big? If we cut these down how short would we make them exactly?

So the bottom teeth, if properly aligned, should tuck up directly behind the top teeth, and should be short enough so the animal can close their mouth without the teeth poking up into the upper palate. It requires a little visualization and mental measurements to really establish that. If trimming is needed, that is where you want to trim them to.
