Hi everyone! Picasso (aka booger-butt) has been in his release cage for a little over three weeks (will be 4 next weekend) He is just about 6 months old. He can crack open hazelnuts and pecans, tries to stash half eaten berries and Bradford pears in random places and constantly is running in circles excited about the Great Beyond. He has interacted with a couple of local squirrels through the wire because they run along the fence next to his cage. He still wants to interact with me, but we have only one neighbor and they have a opossum so I’m not too worried.
I am just checking to make sure it is not too late to release him. I’m in hardiness zone 7b, and on the map I’m in zone 8. Trees still have lots of green leaves, grass is still green (with some areas browning) Range of temps for the next 10 days ranges from 78 high (day) to 44 (night) low. Of course he can use the release cage as a home base for his entire life if he wants- it’s his. I will also put out food daily whether I see him or not (but I’ll be checking that Ring camera!) I am just making sure he will be ok if he sets off never to be seen again.
