Hello everyone!!!! My girl has developed a bump on her hand and on the other hand one on her finger. They don’t seem to bother her but they concern me. Does anyone have any idea what they might be and what to do to help? If these pics don’t help I can take better ones.

Can you tell us more about your squirrel, her age, and what you feed her daily?

Has she been outside for part of the day in a wire cage?

Is she average weight in your view, or overweight?

This type of bump especially on the paws and possibly genital area is a classic symptom of squirrel pox. If treated early, like now, it can be cured. Do you know of anyone who takes valtrex or acyclovir? See if you can get some and we will help you dose it. Again if treated early pox can be cured.

Should the bumps start to redden or ooze, get GoldBond powder and keep the bumps as dry as possible at all times.

Is is 2 years old her diet consists of corn sugar snap peas lettuce sweet potatoes cauliflower for the most part… she has recently started eating homemade squirrel blocks from the recipe on here… Also she is paralyzed and her cage isn’t wire and when she goes outside she isn’t in a cage… She doesn’t get in the grass or anything like that…

What causes that exactly and I can see if I can get some somewhere how much will I need? I think there’s one on her nose but not sure because it’s not red like the other two

It may redden as the pox progresses. You don't need a lot of the acyclovir -- one tablet makes many doses. A lot of people have valtrex or acyclovir or zovirax even, in their medicine cabinets but a lot of people understandably don't like to talk about it because it's used to treat genital herpes. Ask gently.

The ones on mine turned out to be staph. Warm baths and a couple popped, treated with hypochlorous+betadyne and it cleared up in a few days without much issue.

Squirrel Pox is a virus; it is not transmittable to humans, dogs, or cats.

Along with acyclovir, which is the main treatment to counter the virus, and, "Gold Bond" to help dry out the lesions; there are natural sources that can lend further support to countering this virus in tree squirrels.

One of this sources is, "Pycnogenol" (PYC) and the other is Calcium AEP, both of which are anti-viral. Adding these to unsweetened yogurt along with organic vanilla extract, can help reduce the viral load.

I also use an immune booster called Nutriferon. You can get the tablets on Amazon, made by the Shaklee company.. Once you get these things together I will send you the whole protocol by private message.

Sadachara, your squirrel may have had pyoderma, a series of weird pimple looking bumps that eventually burst but can be readily treated with Betadine. Squirrel pox is different. not a staph infection. and far more serious.
