On the safe plants I see Camellia Flowers are safe, the buds are just now coming out on my Camellia bushes and the kids love them👍
Does anyone know if I can give them the branches with leaves also? Or are only the buds/ flowers safe🤷
Thank you.

As long as you are sure they are camellias they look ok. They look somewhat similar to rhododendrons and azaleas, which ARE poisonous, so just be sure of what you have. Camellia flowers look like open rose blossoms, whereas both rhodies and azaleas have looser, messier flowers in bunches, not individually.

Most kinds of Camellias are non toxic to squirrels. The yard squirrels go after the flowers that they favor.

The, 'Mountain Camellia' has been found to have a higher saponin content, which may cause vomiting and diarrhea in pets.
