This squirrel seems to be about 8 weeks old but looks like a 4 wk old because of mail nutrition. I've had him since Tuesday, my friend said he was being attacked by some cats. I have been feeding him Esbilac powder formula. My concerns are
Under weight
Very sketchy
Unsociable
He has bit me twice very hard and deep
Could he possibly be traumatized because of the cats?
Is there any thing else I can feed him to get him healthy?

Please advice. I have attached some pictures

Charlie, I answered a bunch of this earlier here: https://thesquirrelboard.com/forums/showthread.php?69769-Will-someone-please-help!&p=1361242&highlight=#post1361242

Can you stay on the thread I linked to - you may want to save the address so you can keep returning to it. It helps if all the info for you baby is in one place.

Did you give him any hydration when you first got him? Babies on their own without mamas milk are usually VERY dehydrated. The need to be thoroughly hydrated BEFORE you start feeding formula or his body will be unable to process the formula. You can use pedialyte from the store or a homemade formula of 3 teaspoons sugar, 1 teaspoon salt, 4 cups water. It needs to be warmed and syringe fed.

Please read the part I wrote about him needing antibiotics if he has been mauled by a cat. He does not look good at all and I cannot tell if it is dehydration or he is becoming ill from the cat. Address the hydration issue right away. And check your medicine cabinet and that of any friends or family and see if anyone has any leftover prescription antibiotics from a time they were sick.

What are you feeding him with? Not the formula - you told us that, but how are you getting it into him. It needs to be fed with a small syringe, preferably 1ml, NOT A BOTTLE. If you find antibiotics, you will need a 1ml syringe to dose those, too.

Hello Charley,

Reading your 3 threads to get background on your little boy. I read your friend found him on last tues 8/15 from a cat(s) attack. Can you clarify that his Momma is gone or could he be separated from her when your friend saved him ??

Regarding antibiotics, did you finding any ??

Regarding his biting you, His wild instinct is still in defensive mode for survival and he is scared.

Thank you for responding. And I apologize for being all over the place I still am I sure how this posting works. I do t know if I am suppose to simply respond to the thread or what respond with a quote means. In any case I will try and get some antibiotics and will hydrate him. Here is something else that is strange, when I first got him I was unsure whether he was actually a squirrel or not because he looks a little different. When he started acting out a friend told me that he may be a different species of squirrel all together. He was found near the beach and I was told that there are squirrels that are called Rock Squirrels that are very aggressive.
I am feeding him with a syringe not a bottle.

I'll let the others give you help on cat attack the only thing I know about that is if they got bit by a cat antibiotics are a must and ASAP.

In responding to thread) your just moving the conversation along adding info just like I am now.
Responding to quote) your responding to someones post.
Don't worry just keep it in this thread you started and it will be fine👍
Sending blessings to you and this little guy, maybe a few Band-Aids too😏🙏
