My Southern Flyer is about 17 weeks old. About 3 days ago, he was outside of his cage for some exercise time, when suddenly, he leaped and fell to the ground. During his fall, his body hit against a piece of hard furniture. Ever since then, I have noticed that he is restricting his use of his left hand. He will use his whole leg to run, climb, and jump, as quickly as before, but whenever he is stationary, he tucks his paw against his chest. In addition, while he still uses the hand to holds pieces of foods and to climb, I notice that not only will he not grip objects as firmly in that hand, but he will also neglect it entirely whenever possible. He quite frequently licks the paw, but from what I can tell, there is nothing broken, and he does not convey that it causes him any pain, which leads me to believe it may be a sprain in his wrist or something. But it is not swollen as far as I can tell. Not to mention, getting him to slow down long enough for me to make detailed observations of his tiny paws is challenging enough. So I'm stumped on what it might be, how serious it is, and how I would even treat it. I just want an opinion here before I try to bring him to a vet's office.
