Coloring of red squirrel

Is this normal for red squirrel to have these colors? He is so sweet. Kisses on a regular basis. Thinks he owns me lol

LOL! He is just having an "awkward" molt. The summer coat is the red one - in the winter they have a much grayer brown color to blend with the landscape. He is in between right now!

Keep watching. Little red squirrels tend to look like they are wearing a bad toupee for a period when the molt reaches the head. It is pretty hilarious.

Thank you for replaying. He is a trip, that’s for sure. He is a little sneaky too. Hides he little pieces of food on top of cage while he’s out “owning the world”. He stole a small flashlight on a key ring and ran with it. Lol. Guess he needs it to check out other cool stuff to steal like rings and things.

Our Chippy is a red girl about 15 months age, she just molted most of her back fur coat and notice her tail fur thinned out a bit also.
Also have a 2nd red girl Coco, about 12 months, she hasn't yet molted at all.
