I have 2 new to me (48hrs) 7-8 week old babies. Both were doing great, active and eating very well. One may have aspirated some formula with last nights feeding and is not very active today and doesn’t want to eat. I’ve tried sugar water and formula. Clicking some when she breathes. I have kept her good and warm today. Help me please I don’t want to lose her!!

You'll need to treat with antibiotics to save their life.... do you have any antibiotics in your medicine cabinet? Ask family, friends and neighbors... time is of the essence. If you have or find anything, post the name of the antibiotic and strength along with the weight of the squirrels. Someone will advise if the antibiotics can be effective against Aspiration Pneumonia and assist with instructions.

Just to add, human meds are FINE - you do not need to look for vet drugs.

Anything else? Cipro would be wonderful. Augmentin (amoxicillin-clavulanate) would, too. If not we can go with the SMZ-TMP.

YOU will need a 1ml syringe (no needle) which is, by the way, what you should be feeding with to avoid this - to dose this. WE need to know the size of any pills you find in milligrams.

I don’t have either of those unfortunately. The smz-tmp is 800mg smz and 400mg tmp

Please double check. I have never heard of this. It is usually 800mg smz and 160mg tmp. I see a vet version that is 400mg smz and 80mg tmp. Are these pills or something that was specially compounded?

I sent you dosing by PM. Forgot to put how long - 5-7 days.

If you find other antibiotics, particularly the ones I mentioned, let us know - you can switch to a different med.
