I have a chipmunk who lives in my yard, who I feed birdseeds to sometimes, and is very friendly with me(lets me pet him, sits in my lap, etc). I noticed he has some little whitish bugs on him that are very small looks like dandruff but are moving. There’s not a ton of them and they appear to be more on the surface of his fur, not on his skin but he always has some. He doesn’t seem bothered and is not scratching or anything. I am wondering what these bugs might be and should I be concerned about it?

:Welcome
I LOVE chippys❤️ we don't have them in Florida.
I'm guessing mites possibly. I know others who live where they are will be able to help you out👍
Oh to have one sit on my lap:bliss :lenny1

Hello Chipmunk & Charley Chuckles:
It would be great to have photos and maybe even a link to a video as these are moving! I suspect, though, that these tiny white "bugs" are lice. Mites ordinarily are extremely tiny and not really seen with the "naked eye." For instance, the mite that causes scabies is less than 1/2 millimeter in size (there are 25 millimeters in an inch). My suggestion would be to use Advantage for Kittens in the Orange box. This contains ONLY Imidacloprid. This medication is now becoming quite difficult to come by because now the Imidacloprid is being combined with other similar medications are these other drugs, while proven safe for cats and dogs; have not been proven safe for Squirrels! Again, I would suggest using the original Bayer Company product called Advantage for Kittens (and small cats) that is in the orange colored box. The only place I am aware of regular availability is the Budget VetCare. There may very well be other sources and if anyone knows of one or more, please post this. I have a stash from Budget so I have not ordered this for some time but it appears it is available still. Here is a link: https://www.budgetvetcare.com/advantage-pack/cat-flea-and-tick-control-treatment-1228-9710.aspx
To apply this, you would need to separate the fur over the back of your chippy between the shoulder blades and apply just one drop (no more!) to the bare skin. Do not rub it in. It should just be left to dry by itself. This can be repeated monthly for maintenance control of fleas and lice.
Another option is Salamectin ( brands are plain Revolution or Stronghold and NOT with the "plus") but this is prescription only within the USA. There are other sources for ordering Revolution but shipping times may be extensive. It is dosed the same way and as one drop, just as the Advantage.
