Looking for advice/local help as I may have reached the end of my capabilities with these three eastern gray squirrels. I'm in the northern FL/southern GA area but PM me for more information.

They are about 13 weeks old and living in my guest bedroom, where they have supervised play time 1-2 times per day which already doesn't feel like enough. Two of them still love formula, the third is indifferent and would rather play. Otherwise, they get rat blocks and clovers daily with access to fresh oak or magnolia branches. I give other vegetables when available and usually a piece of fruit or pecan in the shell at night.

We will be losing the guest bedroom to my in-laws next week for about 10 days, which will make feeding, exercising, and cleaning the cage difficult. Can 13-week-old squirrels go 10 days confined to a 33 sqft cage? It makes me sad to think about.

I have a property they can be released to, but I don't have the resources to build a slow release cage (can provide more details in PM) so even if we make it through this visit, we'll still end up back in this situation again. We also don't live on that property yet, but I could stay there temporarily or visit daily if needed.

I'm thinking it's time to call a local rehabber for help, but am not sure what to expect or what to ask for. Any ideas/solutions/words of wisdom appreciated.

I’m not sure where in N. Florida you’re located but there is a member that goes by Charley Chuckles that lives in North Florida (Orange City) that could maybe help with release. Another option is to reach out to The Ark Wildlife and Care Sanctuary located in the Jacksonville area. The director is Jonathan and can be reached at 904-424-6543. He prefers to be texted at this number. And my last resource is a licensed rehabber in St. Augustine named Desirée who can be reached at 904-343-5554. She has rehabbers in other areas that work under her license so there may be someone closer to you.

Let us know if any of these work out for you. I’m also in Florida but down towards the middle of the state on the east coast so not particularly close to you.

Best of luck.
