Help! I am in need of ideas for a cone collar for a 10 week old female squirrel. She is sucking on her genitals and has caused it to become infected. She is being treated by a vet, but needs the collar to allow the medicine to stay on and the area heal.

Try putting a collar around her mid section to prevent access to her genitals. I’m not sure what others have used for this. I hope someone will speak up.

Didnt see a response to this thread regarding information on a cone collar- I am in need of info on best way to make a soft cone collar for my NR neuro squirrel. Has 2 non-healing wounds on his stronger side, so not drag sores. Think it is self-mutilation. Want him to be able to feed himself but unable to reach his lower limbs.
Links in sticky post on cone collar (the template) did not work. I need help!
Thank you!!!

Maybe use a plastic soda/water bottle with a flat center section that can be cutout to form a cone of proper size. Then smooth out all edges and cover with tape for extra protection. Finally, form cone over squirrel and tape it good.
Since plastic from bottle has circular form already it helps the cone shape. Just an idea. Cover sharp edges good.
