Hello.
I have a 3 yr old non releasable squirrel. I live in Utah where there is no vet option. We’ve gotten by ok for a while but my girl has a persistent UTI that I’m having issues treating as I am out of cipro and don’t have a way to get more.
I picked up some Pen G from the local farm store but don’t know the appropriate dosage.
I’m treating the scalds with terramycin but need to get rid of the UTI.

No prescription needed. We will be happy to help you with dosing if you need it. You will need her weight and a 1ml syringe without a needle but with clear markings on it.
SMZ-TMP will usually work for UTI as well.
Have you asked around of friends and family. One pill makes a LOT of meds.
You need antibiotics to get rid of a UTI.

A better option for the urine scald is silver sulfadiazine cream. It typically requires a RX but you might be able to find it from an online source that doesn’t require one.

Thank you. I didn't realize I could get cipro without an RX. I have had faked UTI's on myself in the past to get Cipro. I didn't know the aquarium kind would work.
I actually have the dosing for Cipro and can administer that fine. I thought Penicillin G would work as well, but it is an injectable which made me very nervous about dosing as it is for Cattle/Sheep.
I put in an order for the cipro you linked me too. Hopefully I can get her treated sometime tomorrow.

Just for anyone reading this now or in the future... Penicillin G (procaine) injectable should not be used in squirrels if it contains procaine which is contraindicated in squirrels.
Use of penicillin is generally avoided in rodents, and definitely contraindicated in rabbit, porcupine, beaver and woodchuck. There are better and safer choices FWIW.
