My storm babies came 3/27; 95 g each. A third arrived 3/29 at 112, and a fourth last week I can’t even touch (but was a little bigger; and they accepted him).

They all took formula (except him- he panics, bites the nipples off) just fine until this last weekend. According to their weights now (189, 193, 225) they should still get formula three times daily . But now, only one will take it. I started offering it in a dish, and the wildish one will drink it. I haven’t actually seen the others do this yet.

They’ve had access to Mazuri and Henry’s from the start. Offering small amounts of veggies now. I try to run home midday on work days, and one might take a sip… they fuss and wiggle and just don’t want it. I’ve tried offering the syringe through the bars, or up to them (in the cage); not taking it.

I’ve never had littles this small act like this; will they be ok if they quit this small? The skittish one , as I said, has eaten three nipples. So I have no choice but to just offer the dish of formula and solids . But the other three were hand raised and trusted me; is this common ? Just never had a group like this :(

I don’t remember really well but we had this same issue with the first group of babies last year. I just remember saying they were weaning too soon or we thought they were. I know yesterday I was sitting out side watching the big oak next door and noticed a tiny baby coming out of the trees, that baby was no older than the ones you have. Keep in mind it came down foraged next to the trees and went back up. I really don’t know when they naturally wean, but it does depend on how much supplemental feeding you do. They like the food and they start eating it. In nature I am unsure of when that really starts. Babies around here usually start showing their sweet little faces around 9-10 weeks.
