Hey everyone!

Please excuse any typos, I’m writing this in the car on the way to Critter Care Wildlife Society in Langley, BC.

We recently had a baby who had the same head tilt as Yogurt. I had ruled out Racoon Roundworm. I think she had a fall. Before we caught her, she had loads of energy. We’ve been trying to catch her for a week so we could bring her in.

She’s in the have a heart cage right next to me. We put towels over the cage and a few almonds inside. She’s being REALLY quiet and it’s taking everything in me not to peek and see if she’s okay. I’m really scared of the possibility of capture myopathy.

This is my first time going to this rehab centre. I spoke with the rehab centre and they said they would not put her down and that I could pick her up to release at home.

Should I be concerned that I can’t hear her in the cage? Is there anything I should say at the rehab centre? I’m going to mention prednisone.

Thank you thank you thank you! I’m so anxious, any words would be a comfort ❤️

I’ll keep updating here! We’re about 10 minutes away from the centre.

Oooooh I hope everything goes okay. Pogo (her name) is so precious. She’s a black squirrel with a pink nose. She was born this year, so she’s less than a year old. I think I’d put her at 6 months.

She’s being so still, my heart hurts. I hope we made the right decision to bring her in.

Before you take her into the facility I would go in without her and ask what they do with neuro or non releasable squirrels. Do not give your name or sign in till you find out they are willing to help her, not euthanize her out of hand. I realize it is a touch and go issue, and help is needed, ultimately it is your call; no one here is going to judge you.

I'm sending an alert to the rehabbers to give you advice now.

Thank you! We just brought her in after making extra sure that they would not put her down. They’re doing an assessment now. The people here are so nice!!

They said she’d fallen asleep in the blankets we had inside the cage. Phew! That’s why she was still. Oh this little one is going to give me a heart attack. I really hope everything is okay.

We’re back home with Pogo!

She was so good the whole ride home, and when we opened the cage door in our backyard she shot straight to her favourite tree.

The technician there said it seems like an old head injury that’s presenting these symptoms. He said there weren’t many treatment options that he would feel comfortable giving because we’d risk losing Pogo.

After looking at her and hearing our explanation, he thinks her quality of life isn’t being diminished. She’s keeping her weight and energy up.

I’m so glad it’s something he seemed to think she can live with. I was so worried about her ahhh

Thank you all so much for being here ❤️
