Well, we're back. Yesterday seemed fine, this morning was good too...but now the stools a pale yellowish color. It has form though.

Wart himself is very active and doesn't show any signs of distress. In fact, he is quite playful. He is not at all dehydrated. What concerns me is that we never quite made it back to veggies or fruit. He's been eating 12 ccs of formula twice a day (today and yesterday) with a lot of Pedalyte inbetween. He seems really thirsty (but may just really like pedalyte) as he drinks when it is offered.

A little bit of yogurt throughout the day, but no solids yet. The pellets just aren't right color.

What bothers me now is that nothing new has been introducted back into his diet, just formula and not alot of it.

Any ideas? Maybe too much liquid and not enough solids?

Right. IMHO, this baby doesn't need Pedialyte if he is still taking 12ccs of formula twice a day. Try three feedings of formula instead of two, and stop the Pedialyte. Pedialyte is a 'bridge' used in hydrating a squirrel that is in distress due to dehydration....it's not necessary in the long term.

Also -- who says pale yellow is the wrong color? Anything from pale yellow to dark brown is normal in a squirrel, especially one taking only formula and Pedialyte. I would increase the feedings to three (Esbilac), keep offering solids like raw almonds and sweet potato, and cut the Pedialyte. :)

Ah, thank you! I suppose I should have prefaced this with what happened Friday. He had a bout of diarrhea and, based on user's advise, we took him off all food he was currently eating and started in on pedalyte and some yogurt. I wanted to make sure his stools were back to normal.

He is 9 weeks ( I think )

I didn't know pale yellow was a normal color. Since he fell into our life, his stool has been a warm brown color. I thought this was diarrhea returning, since it was about the same color. Thanks for the info.

btw - here is the thread we had thursday...

I think you are doing great. :) As long as the stools remain solid you can reintrodce solids. Try introducing only one new food at a time so if you run into trouble again you will have a good idea what caused it and can adjust without going back to square one. Island is right on target with her advice! :thumbsup
