Hello my name is Pamina and I'm new to this forum!

I am a proud mother of an African pugmy named Pokopiko!

I wanted to know what is the best nutrition diet to follow for this specific species and some general tips from other owners that seem to be working for the best living conditions of our little squirrels❤️❤️

Do you have ANY information or other names for this adorable little creature? I have never heard the term "pugmy" and someone much smarter than I am, Google, hasn't either. It looks sort of like a type of possom...

OK. I kept thinking about this - he is an African Pygmy Dormouse (sometimes called African Pygmy Squirrel) which would be more accurate as they ARE squirrels.

I will tell you, though - I don't like the idea of keeping one of these little guys in an aquarium. They are doing this because they are so small that they can escape from cages with bars, but it is ignoring the fact that they are CLIMBERS that live in the TREES. If that little cutie was mine I would come up with a way to build a SAFE cage with no escape points big enough for him to be able to climb and play. The answer to "how big a cage should "X" have" is always "as big as you can provide."

The African pygmy dormouse (Graphiurus murinus) and the African pygmy squirrel (Myosciurus pumilio) are actually 2 separate species and are often confused. The one in this thread is the former and not the latter. Dormice aren't true squirrels, and are in the family Gliridae. I hope this clarifies things!
