And give a few suggestions to ease his discomfort, Thank you!

Hello,
I’m having same issue!
I believe my 5-6 week old baby has pneumonia. I hear the clicking sound and he’s lethargic. I found some amoxicillin. It’s 500mg and is a capsule.
I have been feeding him exotic nutrition specialty milk replacer. I am in Southern California.
Please help

I will send the amoxicillin dosing BUT AP typically has a persistent clicking... it is like hiccups, they can not stop the clicking. All baby squirrels will have intermittent clicking, especially after eating when their mouths are very wet. Eating okay is a good thing.
Plain Amoxicillin is NOT very effective in treating AP, maybe 50/50 and I suspect that a lot that "survivie" after being given plain amoxicillin did not actually have AP. Amoxicillin and clavulanate (e.g. Augmentin, Clavamox) is more effective in treating AP... Baytril (Cipro) and Bactrim (SMP-TMZ) are very effective for AP.

The weight of your squirrel is required for dosing...
Switch the formula to Esbilac puppy formula. Are you using a syringe to feed? Here is a lot of good info o raising baby squirrels (it is 6 pages long):

This morning he weighs 72gr up from 68 yesterday. I've been feeding this for about 2 weeks and he was thriving. All of a sudden he took a turn. I believe he got too cold. He no longer climbs around, he is now lethargic. He does eat but goes right to sleep. The clicking I heard was after he ate, so maybe it is not pneumonia. Any other ideas?
adding to the above. Thank you for the link, I did come across that guide and have been using it. Just worried about him.

If he was fed when not warmed well enough, that can be a problem, even lethal. He *may* be big enough to weather through and get better if this is what happened but warm him up and keep him warm. As Henry's site says keep a heating pad under 1/2 the bin which allows him to crawl to the other side if too warm. However, if they are crawling off the heat and getting cold, especially before eyes open, this typically means they are sick and you need to be vigilant about keeping them on the heat and well hydrated; meds if necessary.
The best time to listen for clicking is when they are sleeping... sleeping and a constant click is alarming (AP).

Unfortunately my squirrel babe passed away a little over an hour ago. Absolutely heartbreaking because I reached out to several places to get help for him and they turned us down, I caught it too late and I hate that. Thank y’all for all the information.
