I was just given a four to five week old baby squirrel who was bleeding through her nose, has labored breathing, and has black tarry stool. She fell onto a concrete patio last night. She was kept warm overnight by the family who found her and given Pedialyte, then was brought to me today at noon. She’s gasping for air and is clicking with every outward breath. Her tummy shows short, quick breaths as well. I have warmed her, bathed her to get rid of the blood to see where her injuries are, put honey on her gums, and fed her. About to fill the bathroom with steam for her. Can anyone tell me what dosage she needs of Children’s ibuprofen? She weighs 110grams. I would appreciate it so much.

What do you have on hand for antibiotics? Human as well as animal. I would treat for pneumonia.

I cannot figure out how to respond to someone’s comment for the life of me. I have 100mg capsules of Macrobid for humans and that’s it.

You are doing just fine. Macrobid is JUST for bladder issues from what I can read. Perhaps friends, family, neighbors... Not to put too fine a point on it, but this sure does sound like textbook pneumonia and it won't clear without antibiotics... Cipro, amoxicillin clavulanate, even SMZ-TMP (Bactrim) but if you locate something else, post it here. If you have friends with animals, they often get Baytril and Clavamox which are also excellent.
If you find some, post the drug name and the size of the pill in milligrams. We have her weight (110 grams). You will need a 1ml syringe to dilute and dose.

Going to raid my medicine cabinet to see what I have. Then I’ll ask my neighbors if they have anything. I’ve reached out to a friend to see if he can get Baytril but I don’t know if he can. I’ll message as soon as I find something.

She’s not better yet but I did get my hands on some Baytril last night. She’s not gasping with an open mouth as much as she was yesterday but she’s still clicking, super lethargic, and having to be forced to drink. Praying tomorrow will be better.
