Hello, found a baby flying squirrel in a tree that had been cut down and have had it for 5 days now and he started the clicking sound last night and it’s much quieter today. But I searched and called around all day and no one local will sell me baytril or any kind of antibiotics for him. I picked up some colloidal silver today since it’s all I could get but I would like to get some Baytril or something preferably. He’s still got a good appetite and seems okay for now or at least I hope. Only place I found online that I can buy Baytril is a bird website but don’t know how long it would take to get here. I’m in Southwest Missouri near Springfield if anyone can help. Thank you !

Buying it on line is about the best you can do... sometimes you can find Fish-Flox (Ciprofloxacin) at pet shops with large aquarium sections. Always a good idea to have antibiotics that are effective against AP when raising squirrel(s).

Thank you! Did not know this, should be able to find some of this locally. What is the dosing recommendation on this stuff ? He’s only 16.5g
Is it like Baytril dosing wise ? Thanks again !

Ok, I now have a Clavamox 62.5 mg in my possession. Luckily a neighbor friend had one left over and gave it to me. Could someone please give me the dosing info for this I have some 3cc syringes on hand. I’m not real sure I should start him on it yet his clicking is pretty faint now and only seems to happen for awhile after feeding. I’m going super slow with the syringe and letting him lick it off the end. But for sure want the dosing information incase he gets worse so I won’t be scrambling around last minute trying to figure it out.
2nd question is Pet Ag Puppy Milk replacer PLUS in powder form okay to feed him? The store im going to later only has that but can run to another town tomorrow if it has to be the Pet Ag Esbilac. Thank you!

You have to post the weight of your squirrel for dosing of the antibiotic.
No, you can’t use PetLac, it’s not the same formulation as Esbilac…and only powdered Esbilac will work.

Also, there is NO WAY IN THE WORLD you can use the 3ml syringe to dose him. You MUST have 1ml or smaller. Go to a pharmacy and lie - tell them you are nursing a guinea pig - and try to get one. You shouldn't be feeding a flyer with anything bigger than a 1ml either...
