Hello there. :Love_Icon

If you are reaxing this thank you so much. My husband is a landscaper and found a baby squirrel in his tralier in at the dump within the tree debris. He searched and searched for signs of a nest or others/mother. We wanted to reunite him with his mother but we are not sure which jobn location to return it too. This poor bean was in the trailer for 1.5 days and survived. He is so eager to live! Any first timer advise is appreciated!
Things we know:

He weighs 40.2 grams.
We believe he is 3-4 weeks old due to him being grey and having some hair and tiny whiskers. Eyes still sealed.
We have given him one cc pedialyte with a tiny feeder bottle and 2.8 cc of powdered formula from the pet store.
We have him in a medium sized bird cage with felt blankets and 2 socks filled with rice we keep warming.
We do have a heat lamp (red tent or ceramic bulb) Do we use it?
His cage is maintaining about 83 in the room near a window for heat during the day.

Hi! Congratulations on becoming a squirrel parent! I used a heat lamp on my baby but learned that’s not safe and a heating pad would be better, Henry has great ones for a good price! Make sure there not auto turn off as that can cause there temp to drop rapidly, baby’s that young can’t survive without heat source. Make sure you rehydrate it with pedialyte before giving any milk as when there dehydrated they can’t process milk properly. A baby that young will be fed every 2-3 hours. Mind you I’ve only raised a singular baby but his rescue is insane, if any one else responds definitely take there advice more than mine. I just didn’t want you to be needing help and have no answer :)

Just very quickly:

NEVER use a bottle of any kind - it is far too easy to aspirate them with a bottle - they are just too large, no matter how small. We use 1ml syringes without a needle, and they make nipples you can attach to them. They allow you to control the milk flow.

What type of formula? The ONLY one you should be using from a pet store is the POWDERED Esbilac puppy formula - do not get the liquid form and do not buy any other brands. Powdered formulas need to be kept in the freezer - they will go rancid otherwise.

Please read this - it is 6 pages and sets you up for success. For example - no cage - not yet. Baby should be in a ventilated plastic bin on a no auto shutoff heating pad. Go through and read it, please. The site it is on sells syringes and nipples and everything squirrel.
