Hi! I have a beautiful squirrel named Peanut and she is the absolute love of my life. She had fallen out of her nest last year as a baby with her eyes still closed. At that time, she was bleeding out of her mouth, shaking and sneezing. I didn't think she'd make it. Luckily, I found your forum immediately and was able to give her a full recovery thanks to all of you. Today, she is healthy and happy! Due to the fall though, she does have severe maloclussion. I bought trimmers from Chris's squirrels and would trim them myself and occasionally go to vet to get professionally trimmed because I felt they did a better job. Now she only goes to vet for trimming every 4-6 weeks because she had gotten an infection under her nasal cavity and gets very stressed if i trim them now. The vet suggested they remove her top and bottom front teeth. I am just wondering on people's thoughts on this? I want to do what is best for her and the rehabber I work with told me there is always a risk of her not waking up when she gets sedated for teeth trimming. Has anyone had this done and if so, how did it affect your squirrel? Is it better to do that than get her teeth trimmed at vet under sedation for the rest of her life? Thanks in advance to anyone with some advice or experience in this!
