322778Hello, my cat brought home 2 baby Fox squirrels last Thursday. One was torn apart and the other was perfect with no visible injury. We tried to find the mother but fear to leave her outside with the neighborhood cats. In the mean time we’ve been feeding Esbilac/water 1:3 ratio every 4 hours. She’s peeing with stimulation but no signs of BM. I’m getting concerned she has not pooped. I fed her diluted apple juice with the Esbilac last night and still nothing. I don’t know what to do and I’m really worried she may die. I’m hoping someone can give me advice. Thank you.

You are using Esbilac powder?
1) Go to full strength Esbilac which is 2 parts powder to 1 part formula. Diluted the formula 3:1 means there is half the solids so less solids to poop. On full strength formula I have had new intakes go as long as 72 hours before pooping.
2) Never mix anything like apple juice with the formula, only water. If you want to give diluted apple juice, or hydration, give that between feedings. Don't over do the apple juice... wait 12 hours between giving or you'll give him diarrhea and start a constipation / diarrhea cycle.
Here is a 6 page long primer on baby squirrel care... read this then ask any question. Ignore the homemade formula suggestion and stick with the powdered Esbilac.

Thank you so much. I will follow your instructions and yes the Esbilac is powder. She weighs 85 grams.
