I know this is a squirrel forum. But I'm desperate for help. I have a 5 week old chipmunk. 39-40 grams in weight. Today he's 37 grams. Have had him for 4 weeks. Has been a great eater. He's eating 3 ml of day one formula. (Has been on this kind for 3 weeks.) I have 4 chipmunks in total and 1, 3 week old squirrel. No others have any issues. Late afternoon yesterday I noticed he had diarrhea. Was still eating like a champ. This morning still diarrhea. Was eating slightly less. This evening he only ate .75 mil. Still has diarrhea. I have been force dropping more water to curb dehydration. Any idea what could have set this off? Is this something just pedialyte can fix? i have been doing this for 10+ years. I have never had any suddenly get diarrhea out of the blue. I have clavamox. Should I start him on it? Very strange it is just him and nothing has changed food wise. About 5 to 6 days ago I switched their bedding from cloth to natural paper pet bedding and cloth mixed. I have seperated him from the rest, and have taken the bedding completely out and put him back on cloth.. if I do need to give him clavamox.. how much would I give to him if hes 37-39 grams in weight?

Hopefully one with more chippie experience will be able to advise once they are on line.
The more diarrhea he has the more dehydrated he becomes, the less he's going to eat.
I would push the hydration. Plain water with a little honey or sugar may encourage him to take more.
You may also want to give him an anti diarrhea such as Pepto Bismol or Kao-Pectate.
Either can be given QID (4x a day) or as needed.
If there was a specific reason to give an antibiotic for diarrhea clavamox wouldn't be the ab to use.
That would likely just add to the diarrhea upsetting his gut flora that much more IMO.
What is this "day one formula" you mention?

I was wondering about the pepto. How much would u say? And let's say I put 3 cc of water into a lid. Just a Lil pinch of sugar? I've always had clear pedialyte on hand but I'm currently out! So I've never had to make homemade rehydration fluid before

The idea with plain water is to sweeten for taste.
Below is the recipe for the Home made hydration fluid.
This helps replenish electrolytes lost with dehydration.
1/4 teaspoon salt
3/4 tablespoon sugar (1-1/2 teaspoons)
8 oz water
