Outdoor caging

I wanted to make my squirrel an outdoor cage so she could play in it during the warmer months what wire is acceptable? Gauge and Spacing please. I have some wire that is for my bunny cage its is I belive 16 ga. With 1 and 1/2 holes would this work? Wouldn't want her to chew through or predator chew in. Thanks

You do not want to use the vinyl coated and the 1/2" X 1/2" is best since that 1 inch opening allows them to get their mouths into the wire and chew.

I have always used 19 gauge... 16 gauge certainly would be very sturdy but I believe not necessary.

(FWIW - I am not completely certain of this, but I believe the 16 gauge vinyl coating is 19 gauge wire (or even 23) and with the coating the final thickness is 16 gauge. )
