My 2yr old female fox squirrel has something going on with her & I'm not sure what exactly. She stays indoors mostly because of the heat here in East Texas lately but has unlimited access to a large cage attached to my bedroom window. She also has free roam of my bedroom but stays in her area of the room by the window, usually on her tower unless she's playing with me on my bed.
About 2 days ago she had been laying in the window sill mid-afternoon enjoying the cool breeze blowing in on her (she was in full shade & it was around 85° at the time)when she started to act like she was overheating. She got on my bed & sprawled out breathing heavily in a spot where the window unit blows the hardest. After about 20 minutes she went back to her usual self like nothing happened but an hour or so later she began breathing wierd(sounds congested), puffy watery eyes, sneezing & having loose stools. She is still eating & drinking normally. She is overweight, it's been a life-long struggle with her, not sure why she has always been chunky while sister on same diet is healthy normal weight.
They eat Henry's picky blocks followed by any assortment of bok choy, kale, sweet potato(occasionally), blueberries, avocado, butternut squash, & when I can forage & find them, dandelion greens & pine cones.
She has perked up off & on but is still sounding congested with puffy watery eyes & doesn't want to do much else but lay around or sleep.
I don't know what to do to help her feel better.
She has never had any allergies that I've noticed & she's been with me since her & her sister were day-old pinkies. No others in the house, animal or human, have been sick lately but we did go to a water park this past weekend & possibly could have brought home germs

Could be reacting to an alergy, You might want to try dosing her with children's Benadryl to see if that helps.
We would need a weight for dosing, you will need a needle less 1cc/ml syringe.

I gave her some about 2 hours ago. CritterMom helped me with dosage per her weight. So far she seems to be feeling better, zoned out a little from the Benadryl but breathing much easier & no sneezing 🙂

I'm glad she's feeling better. :grouphug
When/if this occurs again take note of what's in the vicinity of the area she's in,
even what may be blooming and or blowing in from outside if she's in the window.

She's still not feeling like herself this morning, laying in her bed awake but looking sleepy. Hopefully she'll eat a little bit & perk up. I feel so helpless not being able to make everything better for her already.
Any ideas for something easy on her stomach that's not hard to get picky eaters to eat?
