I found a baby squirrel at the end of February. I think crows destroyed the nest, there was no wind but drey material was strewn along the ground and she was in the inner core. She had one sibling who was considerably larger than her, but sadly was dead or dying when I found them. Squirt is the 5th baby squirrel that I’ve raised but she is unlike any of the others. She should have been eating solid food for weeks now, but she will only nibble occasionally. I’ve tried looking at her teeth and her bottom teeth seem normal but I can’t get a good look at her top teeth. I think there may be a gap in them. She has had a few periods where she has been somewhat active, but mostly she sleeps and eats. For weeks now she has had diarrhea/watery/mucosy/or very loose stools and she sneezes a lot and I suspect pneumonia. I think she needs professional help, but I don’t know where to take her. Does anyone know anyone in the NE Georgia area who can help? She’s a sweet girl and I’d hate to lose her. Thanks,
Marlee

Have you tried anything like Pepto Bismol or kaopectate or even Immodium with this baby? If not, let's try that to begin with - need the weight of your baby. What have you tried so far?
What formula are you feeding?
What do you have available for antibiotics? I am referring to a prescription for you or a friend or family member that had a pill or two left over. Get us a list. You would only need one pill.

She weighs 250 grams. I haven’t given her any medications and am feeding her goat milk with added egg yolk. I’ve offered avocado, fresh coconut, sugar snap peas, grapes, and hazelnuts and while she will pick them up and nibble sometimes, she’s just not that interested. I think I need to look at her teeth and see what’s going on there. I’ll wrap her up and use a paper clip wrapped in tape to open her mouth and take a picture, like I saw elsewhere on this site. That’s not really my thing but I guess I need to “bite the bullet” and do it.

How old do you think she is?
Can you order some food for her? I think the goats milk with egg yolk is likely the cause of the issues with the stools. You can usually go to the big chain pet stores and buy a can of this: https://www.petco.com/shop/en/petcostore/product/petag-esbilac-powder-puppy-milk-replacer-and-dog-food-supplement - and only that one, by the way. The other option is this: https://henryspets.com/fox-valley-day-one-formula-20-50-for-baby-squirrels/ That site sells a wonderful adult food to start when they begin to wean: https://www.henryspets.com/diets/ The first three are the best.
If you want to attempt using one of the items I suggested for the diarrhea, just let us know which one. I do think that changing the formula will be needed though - the stomach meds can't help that if you continue to feed it.

Thanks, I found her on February 25 and she opened her eyes on March 19, so I was thinking she was about a week old when I found her? Would that be right? I’ve been worried about her diet and that’s why I’ve been anxious about her eating solid foods. The other babies I’ve raised all started eating long before this. Hopefully I can connect with Spanky and go from there. Thanks for your help, I feel like I’m in over my head right now.

She would have been around 2 weeks old, they open their eyes right around 5 weeks normally.
I'll send you a PM with my number.
