I’ve been trying new things, the acorn, butternut, and (? the weird green one ) squash. I read somewhere they like the seeds? Are they unhealthy or healthy treats?
Do you just gut them out and rinse/dry?
How long do they keep?
Or not with the trouble and toss out?

VERY high in phosphorus and low in calcium = MBD. Most seeds are that way (except sesame seeds!)

The wilds seem to like them well enough. I don't eat squash that often so it is just an occasional treat. I wouldn't give more than a couple to a captive squirrel.

Hi CritterMom!
Have you any reference to the nutritional data on Butternut Squash seeds.
MySquirrel loves those seeds, and while Butternut Squash is probably the only healthy for squirrels squash - I question if the SEEDs can actually be trusted to reflect the squash meat's values?
Impossible to find data on that, with any data seeming to confuse specific Butternut seeds with Pumpkin and other squash seeds.
Might you have any insights on this ?
