Ms Henrietta is two now and admittedly a bit plump in the belly. She’s starting to get squirley again now that spring is in the air after a lazy winter. She’s very playful and eating her veggies and HHB very well. I noticed in late January that she had a lil bald spot on her belly. It’s about the size of a quarter. I am pretty sure it’s where she rubbed the hair off squeezing her gut into her nest box. I rub it and it’s got little fuzzies on it like hair is growing. It’s very light pink to white skin not irritated looking at all. I rub her tummy and don’t feel any lumps and she shows no discomfort or bother. She quite likes tummy rubs. Last winter she was a stinker and wouldn’t eat well and got a little hair loss on her nose. Some folks here said it was a type of fungus from poor diet and recommended I increase her coconut oil. Worked like a champ. I even rubbed a little coconut oil on the scaly skin on her nose. No kidding in about five days it was growing little fuzzies. This belly spot doesn’t seem like that at all. The rest of her fur is thick, shiny and perfect so I don’t think it’s her molting but I’ve never seen her do that so I’m not sure I’d know. I really think I just let her get too fat over the winter and it’s rubbed a naked patch…but I had to ask just to be sure. I’ve tried to get a picture but she isn’t having any of that while she’s laying on her back getting rubs. I’m gonna keep an eye on it and I’ve noticed as she has started getting more active again she’s lost a little chub already. I rubbed coconut oil on it but she licks it off. One of her favorite things I guess. Do you have any suggestions for foods that are especially good for her fur and skin. She’s a very good eater and other than mushrooms she likes almost all vegetables. I don’t give her nuts but twice a week now…like a whole one in the shell. She does get a quarter of a shelled pecan each nite for dessert after her dinner. Her main diet is twice a day a HHB with greens, broccoli or cauliflower, a couple chunks of butternut or sweet potato and one grape or apple chunk. Of course it varies each week but the ratio I try to keep the same, mostly green veg a little bit of a starchy veg and a tiny bit of fruit. Also every other day I give her a bit of coconut oil or an avocado chunk. As it gets warmer I go out and pick her wild treats from the yard which she loves but not yet. Still cool here. Just thinking maybe I’m not the only person who let their fuzz butt get chubby and maybe y’all have more good advice. Thank you as always.
