Hi friends. So i had two baby 🐿️ fall from the tree one didn't make it. I tried to reunite with mama she rejected. I cleaned her up checked for cuts. She had bruises from the fall which healed. I have her with plenty of warm blankets no towels. A heating pad. I've been giving her esbilac. Which i guess is a huge no. She ended up becoming dehydrated so i gave her Pedialyte for 6 hours every hour slowly put her back on formula. I finally received her formula. I tried to feed her and she just was not interested. She had been having diarrhea yesterday it was milky white and today it was a pasty yellow. There is no clicking when she breathes. Is there something that i am doing wrong? I want so badly for her to thrive and be ok. She was doing fine then all of a sudden i am not sure what happened. :( I can only assume it was the improper diet.

Milky white formula is usually from overfeeding.

Paste yellow... might be from the transition / change in formula.

She should be fed 5% - 7% according to weight. I am attaching a cheat sheet... knowing their weights is extremely important for feeding and in emergencies, like in case medications are needed.

If you know how old she is we can tell you how frequent the feedings should be as well..

Edit: Noticed the age was in the title..at 3 almost 4 weeks she should be around 70grams and get feed every 3 - 4 hours.

She's not doing so great. She was thriving then out of nowhere she just became lethargic. When i found her i had bathed her. She had bruising from when she fell out of the tree. She had healed and was hydrated. She then became dehydrated. I have been giving her esbilac while i waited for her formula to come in the mail. She's been having yellow pasty poop. I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong. I want for her to feel better asap😭

She could be dehydrated. When they’re dehydrated they don’t have an interest in eating. Try offering some plain warm water. You can add a tiny bit of honey for flavor but go easy on the sweetener as it can exacerbate the loose stool.

Oh my she doesn’t look good at all!! She needs hydration. Offer water a drop at a time.

What was the Esbilac you were feeding? Powdered or liquid canned? The powdered is fine to feed, mix it 1 part powder to 2 parts very warm water.

It was powdered. I've been hydrating her i went for 6 hours...I'm not sure if i should keep going? I know. It's making me so sad. I seriously want to cry. She's barely eating and I'm just lost into what to do. Every site has just been so back and forth and different things and i finally found this site and I'm hoping and praying i can help her as much as i can. She was doing great then bam. So idk :(

Ok. How long and how often do i hydrate her for? I feel so sad for the little sweet pea.

Thank you. I've been feeding her every 3 hours 2ml.

Yes, sounds like continued dehydration, especially if she still has diarrhea.

Continue to give her a 1/2 feeding of pedialyte between normal formula feedings. (formula.. 2 hours later pedialyte... 2 hours later formula)
Mine seem to like either orange or strawberry flavored pedialyte.

Both the formula and the pedialyte need to be properly warmed... they should feel almost too hot to the finger tip, but okay when squirted on your inner wrist.
If it is not properly warmed it will not register as food to them.

When she hits the point of no longer being dehydrated she will suddenly grab the syringe like she is starving.

A small amount of either kaopectate or imodium-d twice per day may help to slow down the fluid loss. (like 0.1ml)

Side note... if she only weighs 40g (you feeding 2ml) then she is about 3 weeks old. (Thin fur on back with totally pink tummy)

Oh ok yeah see she was grabbing it two days ago trying to guzzle down the formula and just a happy little booger and now it's like woah. Drastic change. :( Thank you! I will do so! Oh ok. Are you using Pedialyte or homemade Pedialyte? I've been doing warm water with honey or warm water with salt and sugar.

Javarat responded to your other thread. Please follow his advice. There is nothing wrong with powdered esbilac if the expiration date is on or after 10/21. If that’s the case then Mix it according to the directions and you can feed it, but follow Javarat advice.

Put her head in your ear and listen. Is she making a clicking, popping, or rasping noise?

Have you been stimulating her to pee and poop after every feeding?

You can give her a drop of kaopectate twice per day to try to slow down the fluid loss.
If you use Imodium-D do not do more than 4 doses.

What is the new formula that you got? This could be as simple as her not liking the taste. I would go back to the esbilac as it was working for her, and follow Javarat's advice.

Make sure she is warm. She won't be able to digest otherwise. She needs a heating pad under her container as she is far too young to generate her own heat. SHE needs to be warm, her pedialyte needs to be warm, her formula needs to be warm...

Yes. Baby girl is set up with plenty of blankets a pocket from this site and a heating pad and it's covered. She's pretty snug ❤️🥰 as well as her formula and Pedialyte. I ordered the fox valley from the site.

She looks very dehydrated.
At this stage I would just give her 1-2 ml of warm pedialyte every hour for 4-6 hours, and then see how she responds to formula.

She is not making nay noises when breathing. And yes i stimulate her before and after each feeding. For sure. I will go back to predialyte every hour for 4-6 hours. Thank you

I couldn't hear clicking before but i do now. I'm not sure why i couldn't pick it up. I was next to her bin and could hear it. 🥺 All i have is amoxicillin which i used to clear my mastitis when i was nursing my daughter.

How’s your baby doing this morning? I was texting with the person at 2am. She was still clicking, not eating, and body felt cold to the touch. We were working on methods of hydrating and warming her.

Thank you all for trying.

Maybe she had internal injuries from the fall that could not be overcome?

I feared this would be the outcome. The baby looked very dehydrated and emaciated. :boohoo
