I had to give my 16 week squirrel to a rehabber as I had to travel for work for the next few months unexpectedly . I had always planned on releasing her but it is winter so i was waiting until spring. I cried the whole time and then got home and had an email saying my trip was canceled which made me feel so much worse.
My question to rehabbers out there because my squirrel was a singleton, she bonded to me. She never showed aggression to anyone and was always friendly. I'm worried that the rehabber is just going to say nonreleasable and have her put down. What processes do rehabbers try to wild up squirrels first? She seemed nice enough and claimed she wouldn't but she asked very direct questions when handing her over about handling and if I got her before her eyes opened and stuff. Is my squirrel going to be put down?
