Hi,
I am in need of some help. I have issues going on with my baby girl, well she isn't a baby anymore, but my baby. I will give a little rundown on her history. So, Zoomie is my one yr old gray that I have been raising since she was a pinky, literally days old. She was found after a fall from her nest in the trees. She was lucky and didn't have any major issues that were noticeable, that is until she was about 3 weeks old. Noticed her eye oozing before she even opened them for good. When she did open her eyes the one eye looked pretty bad. She also opened her eyes a lot sooner than her sister. She was on an antibiotic for a week and the infection seemed to clear up but she is pretty much blind in that one eye. I honestly think it had something to do with the impact of her fall. I noticed a few days ago her eye started to look cloudy again and different from what I am used to seeing it. Think it may be infected again.
My second concern/problem is her bottom teeth. They are getting way to long. I know I need to trim them and desperately need to do it. I have done a ton of research on it so I am aware of how to do it just super nervous. She isn't all that friendly, she is honestly the complete opposite of her sister. I had to get creative and learn different ways to gear up for her daily out of the cage time because she has attacked me multiple time for no apparent reason. I's super nervous about trying to burrito her. I don't think she is going to let me. Actually, I know she isn't going to let me, she is going to flip. I hate to put her under that much stress, but it is now puncturing the roof of her mouth and may be causing some issues.
She is noticeably not feeling well and I am getting worried. As time passes, I can see her going downhill. She is laying around and sleeping a lot, that is not like her at all. She does attempt to eat and drink but eventually gives up after a few bites. She is usually a good eater. She would always eat her morning block and 3/4 of her dinner (veggies, half a block, two pieces of fruit) and she has barely touched it. They usually get a shelled nut after dinner and she won't take it nor an unshelled nut. Thinking she has an infection and it is starting to get worse. I have antibiotic just not sure it is the correct kind. I have Cephalexin 500mg, would this work if not what would? She weighs about 45kg
Also, if there are any tips on getting her wrapped up without scaring her to much or her attacking me I would love to hear. It is kinda a one-shot deal with her. If I fell doing it the first time, she will not let me try wrapping her again. I have the cutters and mouth prop sitting here next to me and am planning on doing it tonight once I hear back from someone. She just doesn't look well at all so I got to do it tonight. Just not sure whether it's her eye or the teeth. It's breaking my heart seeing her this way and can't let it go on any longer, I don't want to lose her.
Sorry, this is super long just don't want to leave anything out. So, my main questions are Is there anything I can give her that would "chill her out" or make her sleepy without causing her harm in order to trim the teeth? Any tricks on wrapping her up? Will the Cephalexin 500mg antibiotic work if not what do I need? I am getting ready to let her out I will try my best to get some pics. Depends on her mood 😒 Thank you in advance for any help! I appreciate you all!
