I just rescued a chipmunk from a neighborhood cat. The cat was batting at the chipmunk in the grass. I ran and picked the chipmunk up because it was not moving. I have it in the house under a blanket in a large tub. The cat continues to roam the area looking for it. I see no injuries/blood on the chipmunk but she continues to lie in the bin under the blanket. It is dusk here so she should be in for the evening. Is this why she is so still or could it be shock? Anyone with advice for how I should care for/release would be appreciated.

Warm Dark Quiet

It could easily be in shock. The chippy should be given a round of antibiotics. Once it warms up, it should be given hydration fluid. Determine its age; adult or juvenile. If it still needs to be on formula, feed just like a squirrel.
