Ivy came to me, along with her litter mate, mid September. They’re appeared to be around 6 weeks old, both a little over 100 grams. Ivy had a broken front toe and facial injuries- bloody nose, severe swelling on the bridge of her nose. She developed aspiration pneumonia (I assume it was from the awful persistent bloody nose.) but, she responded well to antibiotics and NSAIDs. She fully recovered. I check my babies teeth when they’re still nursing- bc I know dental issues can lead to needing medical attention and possibly being NR. Anyway, I saw last night that her top incisors seem to be overlapping. Thoughts?

Hi Danie,
I would suggest that you take 1/8-3/16th” off those teeth and see if that would help those teeth line up better. The teeth are soft now and not too hard to cut. Chris’s Squirrels and More has a very nice pair of teeth nippers reasonably priced that cut excellent. If you have never cut teeth before come back and we will guide you through.

I just ordered the micro trimmers. I haven’t cut teeth before, but I have read about it in detail and watched videos. I just hope that her teeth don’t continue to grow like this. I will be overwintering her, so I’ll be able to keep a close eye on her teeth.
I appreciate your input and help. When I saw her teeth, I knew something wasn’t right. They’re significantly longer than her brother’s and the one is growing in angled.
As an aside, she eats (veggies, teklad 2018 rodent block) well and is nursing 2X a day (7% body weight) currently (fox valley 20/50 & UB 2:1.) They have rocks, branches, and a deer antler in their cage for gnawing.

Ivy and I just want to say thank you! Trimmers worked perfectly. Tried to get a picture of her trimmed teeth, but she wasn’t having it. My 2 hands are not match for 4 unhappy paws. Can’t blame her. 🤣

Keep an eye on them. You might have to cut them several times to see if that will help. If her teeth will not wear down by themselves I am sure you know that she can not be released.
She is beautiful. You did a super job!

I will definitely keep an eye on them. Is there a recommended interval for trimming or does it just depend on how fast I see them growing? She a sweet girl and tolerates me checking better than others her age, thankfully. 😊

I finally managed to get a (not so great) photo, but you can definitely see the difference!
