Last week I went to the store and bought Rockie some strawberry yogurt, parsley, watermelon and cheerios. After introducing each new food to him, he still wanted the normal amount of formula, but now he seems to want to eat only solids and a small amount of formula (3-4 CC's.) He's about 8-9 weeks old now, so is it okay if he isn't taking in as much formula as before? If someone could give me an example of what they feed their squirrel for breakfast, lunch and dinner, that would be great because I want to make sure he's getting enough to eat. :)

It is fine that he is more interested in solids now. That is a good thing! Just make sure he is actually eating the solids and not just shredding them. He should be fed regular food 2 times a day. I usually give mine about 4-5 chunks of fruit and 3-4 chunks of vegetables plus their rodent block and one half of a walnut (one walnut bit) per feeding. Also, put a walnut in the shell in with him to practice cracking. Once he can do that, just give him one nut per day.

at six weeks to eight weeks, we feed apple, peeled grapes, watermelon, walnuts, peanuts, cheerios, and bread soaked in formula. sometimes the list varies.

i think you should offer him bread soaked in formula. we just pour a little on top of bread pieces in a dish. sometimes babies just get sick of the syringe but not the formula taste.

in addition, at nine weeks, you should be giving hardnuts, both in and out of shell. plain peanuts are ok but only in moderation-my mother and i really only use them to bulk the babies up for winter. other than that they don't have much use. you could offer dried corn on the cob, too.
