Just when I thought I was done worrying (been treating a different squirrel's abscess) one of my babies is straining to pee. She's about 9-10 weeks and was squatting for a long time with just a drop at a time expelling. She was also grunting/wimpering and is not at all playful. Just plain doesn't feel good. I tried to soak her in warm water as I've done for other blocked squirrels and she wigged out as we aproached the bowl of water. She's strong (over 200 grams) with razor claws. I gave up when she started tearing up my hands. I can try with gloves but don't even know if this is an appropriate treatment for her blockage. I've never had this problem in a baby this old who has been fine until now. She has been weaning from formula, I have water in cage, but maybe she's not drinking enough? I really need some ideas. Will probably try the local rehabbers as well, but the more ideas the better. Thanks in advance fellow squirrel lovers!

I mentioned this to Mars in a PM but thought I'd update the thread. There's blood in her urine. I tried warm compresses and trying to tickle her to pee with no luck. I'm waiting to hear back from the rehabber in charge. If you've read any of my Buster posts you'll know she's not one to respond in a timely manner. Will let everyone know what's going on.

Urinary Tract Infection - Cranberry Juice in her water - may need to go on a mild antibiotic quickly.

The director of the center got a message to me through her helper that she thinks it's a bladder infection. They had me start septra and I may try Mars' homeopathic ideas as well. Hope that solves it, my poor little Hannah.
