Would anyone happen to know if squirrels eat marigold flowers?

I've read mixed and contradictory articles some of which say that marigolds supposedly repel squirrels and others that marigolds do not repel squirrels. But none specified if marigolds were toxic to squirrels and/or squirrels ate them.

From what I can find, some varieties are mildly toxic (to cats, no info on rodents) and some aren't. Mildly toxic is stomach pain, drooling, vomiting. My guideline is if something is toxic to anything, at any time, for any reason, it goes on my NO NO NO list.

My mom had marigolds everywhere in her garden and I never saw her yard squirrels eat them, however they were more than happy to grab the flowers off her hibiscuses-es?...I'm with CritterMom, if it's mildly toxic to anyone it's totally toxic as far as my squirrels are concerned. :grin2
