Hi everyone,
My "smol baby" is a few months old now and very active and healthy. Her diet currently consists of: 70% Mazuri rodent block, 2 HHB a day, and a variety of fruits, veggies and occasionally wild foods.
I like the idea of HHB but they are so expensive and run out so fast. I want to keep her healthy and avoid MBD in any way I can, but I wonder if she is already readily eating a quality rodent block like Mazuri... is feeding HHB consistently really necessary? Wouldn't the rodent block take care of preventing MBD?
Thanks!

The Mazuri rodent block should take care of preventing MBD as long as she’s eating it and enough of it. I think there are other rehabbers on here that use another rodent block besides Henrys. I hope they’ll chime in with their experience.

I agree that the Mazuri block is enough. Keep in mind that the HHB is a supplement block and should be limited. A single bag has 60 blocks so at one per day, a bag would last 2 months. With that in mind, it’s not as expensive as it would seem. Just a thought.
Is this a baby that will be released or is this a NR?

I am planning on eventually releasing her when I move. I am hoping to create a situation where I can do a soft release in my backyard and am able to maintain a relationship with her and she can come back whenever she wants.
Oh and Mel, your comment made me think... I know she's eating the Mazuri but I don't know exactly how much. I hope she's eating what would be considered "enough". Do you know what that amount would be?

It’s hard to say how much is enough. You should be able to visibly see that blocks are disappearing. It might not be a bad idea to continue giving 1 HHB per day if she likes them. If you buy a bag of the “mixed blocks” from Henrys they’re very economical….like $9 a bag. They aren’t always available and you’re limited to only 1 bag per order. You just have to check the website often for availability.
