HELP!! What can I do to prevent the Fox Valley 20/50 formula from being gritty like? I mixed it with hot water and let it sit in the fridge overnight but its still got the grit feel to it! Im scared to give it to Jett like this because Ive just nursed him back to health after almost losing him with the mistake of using FV 32/40. He is a 5 wk old EGS

So, I'm neurotic, but here's what I do:
Two parts hot water (I use 150 degree water) go into a mason jar with 1 part FV on top. I screw on the lid and then shake the living heck out of it. Carefully break the seal by unscrewing the lid a bit and then I leave it to rest on the counter until lukewarm. Then, I tighten the lid and shake the crap out of it again. Into the fridge over-night!
In the morning, I give it a good stir to redistribute anything that has settled onto the bottom overnight and then pass it through a fine mesh strainer.
This eliminates 99% of any small clumping. Any tiny dots left at the top of the mixture after settling typically dissolve once the formula is heated for feeding.
I am aware that this is probably overkill, but it puts my mind at ease.
Also, if you do the shake method, never do this within a couple of hours of feeding. Shaking incorporates a lot of air into the formula and it needs time to settle back out before being fed.

I have used it like that before without a problem. Sometimes the grind of the components appears to be more course. Don’t let it settle and the feed the top. The course ingredient is a necessary component. I know some have refused to feed it with the grit but your next bag might be exactly the same.
It’s a common issue with the formulas. Sometimes it’s smooth and other times not so much. I have used it without issue. If you want to put your mind at ease, add a small amount of heavy cream to the formula. Any deficiencies of the formula will be covered by this simple addition. Don’t add too much as it can cause diarrhea.
