Would anyone be willing to post a photo of a perfectly normal baby squirrel poop that is drinking FV formula? I want to rule out any abnormalities in our boy’s. I tried posting a picture of it but the quality wasn’t good enough so that didn’t really work out. It is golden but I can’t tell if I also see evidence of worms. There were times where I thought I saw some white pieces in it but am still on the fence. I had heard they can also have that in there if they have ultraboost added? He was quite thin and had needed the extra. He’s about 4 weeks now. Any help would be appreciated! I don’t want to give him SafeGuard if I don’t need to.

If it is too soft and somewhat yellow then I would in my limited but professional opinion give him 1 small drop of pepto let that go all the way through his system. It should turn poop black. Then give it again if his stool is soft after that. How long have you had him? I believe some do that when switching from mommas milk to formula but can really remember the definite answer for that.

It thankfully isn’t soft. I just wanted a way to rule out parasites for sure.

This may be unrelated, but how are you mixing your formula?

The younger the squirrel, the more important it is that your formula is mixed extremely well. White bits in stool could be a sign of worms, though I could not identify any from your picture in the other thread. Is it possible that the formula is a bit grainy? Squirrels have issues digesting formula that isn't thoroughly mixed. It's possible that those spots are simply undigested formula grains.

If you're concerned about a potential parasite issue, a surefire way to know is to have a fecal exam done. Any squirrel-friendly vets in your area?

There’s one but he is unfortunately out of town for the next two weeks.

I’m putting a better picture. It is in a few pieces only because we broke it apart a little to check it….

Those are about the best I can do! I’m dropping the Ultraboost today as he is up to a good weight.

Thank goodness! This little angel warms our heart daily. Here’s some pics from during feeding time. He’s rooting around and then passed out right in my girlfriend’s hand. He asks that you excuse the dried milk on his face :p
