I have a baby grey weighing 112 grams. I have been giving him the water/sugar/salt mixture to rehydrate. He’s urinating and defecting but has aspirating pneumonia. I found him late yesterday and tried to reunite him with mama last evening and this morning with no luck. I noticed he was “clicking” when breathing. I have read many forums on this site and am so thankful. I have been holding him so his head is down and the syringe is up and he hasn’t aspirated since I’ve rescued him. He’s very lethargic and just wants to sleep. I have amox/k clav 875-125 mg tab. Now that I’ve crushed it up. How much/often do I dose him? Thanks so much!

I was just brought 2 baby squirrels by someone they weigh 55 & 67 grams. I hear a clicking sound. The only antibiotic I have is clindamycin 75 mg would that work? If not what should I find and what would the dosing be? Thanks so much!

Alyloo, I see that your problem is similar to the original posters issue. Sometimes posts can get overlooked when on other threads. You might want to start a new thread about your babies. To answer your question, Clindamycin isn’t a good antibiotic for aspiration pneumonia. Try to get Ciprofloxacin, doxycycline, Septra or Augmentin. Ask friends if they have a left over pill. A single pill is enough to dose both babies if the mg are high enough. Let us know what you find and someone can dose it for you.
Is the clicking constant? With aspiration pneumonia, they would have clicking, loss of appetite and lethargy.

Ok I will do that! Yes it’s constant and now the larger of the two is open mouthed breathing and has some bloat this morning. I’ve been trying to find some different antibiotics all morning. Thanks!!
