I haven't posted in a long time in here and I'm not sure where to post this question but the search results didn't bring anything up for me so here I am.

Skillet is 15 years old and the last month or so he has been getting gas almost every other day. He seems okay but all of a sudden he will stink without any pooping, just gassy.
He's pooping regularly, he's eating all of the same things, his main food is Teklad (Envigo-Harlan) rat pellets, he's our old guy and I've had him since he was a baby. I'm afraid it may just be old age, as he has never had this problem before in 15 years until all of a sudden a month ago. I've given him one little drop of gas ex mixed with coconut oil or peanut butter once in awhile but not every time, not sure what else to do for him. Help, thanks! (And yes I will finally add some pics soon on my profile, a lot of life happened before and I never could get them up on here! Haha)

Gas is usually the result of incomplete digestion of foods, just as it is in humans. You can add this soil based source of probiotic to his diet as it will work to support better digestion and make him feel better also.

Best to not give both of these sources at the same time of day, but instead include one source in the morning and the other in the afternoon

Place 1 Tsp. of squash into each small sections of the trays to store in the freezer in zipped freezer bags after removing excess air by using a straw placed into the opening and closed down over it with the zip, then just pull in the air and exhale out into the room. Once the air is gone then close the bag completely and store it in the freezer for future use. place one frozen portion removed by popping it out and placing it into a plastic covered lid in the fridge to thaw overnight. Then in the morning place the container out on the counter to warm up a bit prior to feeding. Store unused squash in baby food trays in measured portions using a melon baller to fill half way, makes using this means of storing squash a breeze to support. To the squash mix in the portion of probiotic 1/64 Tsp. daily AM.

Pycnogenol has been found to extend the life function of the liver and the kidneys.

Pynogenol from Healty Origins on Amazon.com add one eight portion of 30 mg. capsule powder to moist food daily

Please let us know how this source and the Pycnogenol source worked on the gas issue.

Curious, is your squirrel a northern gray perhaps?

Thanks for your reply, sorry I have a hard time finding this thread again so it took me a bit to get back to it. I guess he'd be considered an Eastern gray tree squirrel, or Southeast haha. That's really good information, I take pycnogenol all the time so I'll give him some of that for sure and he loves squash too. I was afraid maybe the envigo rat pellets had changed their formula or something, since the last bag I bought was about a month ago and that's when this started but that was just a long shot, he's never had a problem before with them, even after they sold or merged their company years ago. I will try these suggestions thank you very much!
