Hey all...hope you're well! So my two-year old male Gray in the Midwest has never had his weight recorded until recently. I started doing this because he just seems smaller to me that he used to be. Last year when he went through his shedding/molting/mating/hormonal "period", it lasted about a week or two in June/July. The week from hell with little eating, warm body, huge testes, slightly more aggressive playing, and TONS of shedding. This year, he has decided to do the same thing only he started in May. The difference is this is now THREE weeks of this of this with even MORE shedding, less eating, warmer body, bigger testes, more aggressive playing, and more drinking. I'm really hoping this is normal and not something underlying. His diet has always been impeccable with little to no nuts/fruit, three Henry blocks daily, and veggies off of the Henry's safe list three times a day. Just like that overnight....eats less, got pickier, and stretches out meals over longer periods of time. Below, you'll see how his body weight has also fluctuated. True, he's losing tons of fur...so I expected a little weight loss there...and he's not eating how he used to. But my question is.....what is a safe weight for these grays in the Midwest, and should I expect this kind of fluctuation during this period? Or...is this even normal? Since he's currently on the losing side, I am concerned. I should note that he has no bald spots aside from his belly. So while he is super shedding....another coat is there. Some that falls out is longer fur.....some short. Please see this chart and tell me if I'm way off base with a healthy weight goes. He looks fairly sleek and muscley, with some meat...but feels small and scrawny. Any ideas? Thanks!!!!
