They usually open their eyes between 4-5 weeks. How long have you had him?

You can start aging him as soon as eyes open at 5 weeks.
Have you raised squirrel babies before?
Diet is very important, the formula to be fed is extreamly important.
I'm attaching a link on baby squirrel care below, he has passed some
stages but I think you will find the information very helpful.

Go to this link this can be a HUGE help.
It's 6 pages long with the next button on the top right corner.

I’ve had him since May 15th. Found him on the ground all alone. No tree nearby. He was flea infested. Got all the fleas off him.

I haven’t. I’m new to this. I’ve done lots of research so far. I’ve had him since May 15th. Been giving him the Esbilac formula. But I’ve heard if they are 4 weeks+ to switch to the Fox Valley 20/50 ? So I just ordered that. Waiting for it to come on Saturday. He isn’t eating much of the esbilac formula now since his eyes have opened. Does this mean that maybe I should start introducing solids? He chews on the towel.

The link provided can explain a lot....
Formula needs to be kept quite warm throughout feeding, if it cools off too soon they will stop eating.
What are you feeding with? Do you know how much to be feeding, how often?
You need to get a weight on baby, squirrels are to be fed between 5-7% of their body weight.
Knowing their weight is also important if they were to need meds which are dosed by their body weight.
Once eyes open they need to be introduced to a quality rodent block also explained in the link provided.
Rodent block needs to be the first and only solid food introduced and he should be eating it well before
other solids are introduced.
I will attach the link to the healthy diet below....
You need to replace the towel with fleece, sheet, or pillow case type material. Something without loops
like the material of towels. The reason is these babies (even adults) can get their nails hung and rip them
out on it or twist and cause injury to their feet.
Please get a weight on your squirrel so you can know how much he should be eating.

Thank you. I don’t have the gram scale yet. Waiting for it to come in the mail also. But he was eating pretty well. Over 6cc. Now he eats less probably because he is ready to go to solids. He is pooping and peeing on his own as well now.

First and only solids should be rodent block until he is eating those well...

At barely 5 weeks he's not ready to be stopping formula.
Formula is and should continue to be his primary source of nutrition.

Depending on weight 6cc's is good, how often are you feeding?

Every 4-6 hours. How do I know if he is constipated ? He doesn't poop after every feeding. Is this normal?

Sometimes they still have to be stimulated after 5 weeks but usually this is about the time they just go on their own. Are you finding poop in the cage? They will go to one corner usually and pee and just poop where ever lol..

He doesn't poop in the cage. He only poops when I massage him or stimulate with a warm wet paper towel on his genitals. I was using the Esbilac formula and I think it was constipating him. I just received a new formula (the Fox Valley 20/50 formula) today and he pooped a few times after I massaged his butt in circular motions while he was on all fours.

I just saw this reply...gosh...did the issue correct itself after switching formula?
