I have a 60 gram baby that came in 2 days ago. He was cold, lethargic and clicking when he came in. I was able to get him warm and hydrated and he made a small recovery after 24 hours and eating just a little. He remained lethargic and has gone down hill again. My trouble now is that I think his lungs are so inflammed and he is so lethargic that he is unwilling or unable to swallow. Even if I administer electrolytes one drop at a time on his tongue it just pours right back out of his mouth. His breathing is crackly and his heart is elevated.
I was initially able to get 2 doses of amoxi in (when he had bounced back slightly) and have since found some Cirpoflaxacin.
My question is how the heck can I get meds into him if he can't/won't swallow? Any tricks out there?

Start the Cipro ASAP. The Cipro dose will be very tiny for 60g, I would just gently squirt it into his mouth with syringe. He is probably dehydrated, can you sub-Q him?
