Ok, I just got my boy around Saturday or sunday. Hes about 4 weeks old, I was giving him Pedialyte for the first three four days and then I switched into our formula but this morning he was up and happy and really didn't want to eat. I did give him a bit of pedialyte and he took it but I have noticed when I have checked on him he seems to be breathing a bit fast. Any advice/ help is welcome

Pedialyte should not have been given over 24 hours, if he needs (extra) hydration you should give
plain water or water sweetened with a little honey. He obviously has been without needed nutrition.
What is the formula you are feeding, what are you feeding him with?

I’m not sure what the breathing fast is from. It could be from all the sugar in the pedialyte. But if all he’s had for 3-4 days is pedialyte he needs some nourishment. FYI pedialyte is only to be given for 24 hrs. The salt in it is hard on their kidneys. If you need to do any further hydration you should use slightly sweetened water and give it BETWEEN scheduled feedings and not in place of a feeding.

Edit: Stepnstone types faster than me! Great minds think alike, though.

Well I gave actual pedialyte for 24hrs and bc I had nothing for him for a few days I gave him a water sugar salt mix he has had at least a couple days of formula fox valley day 1 20/50 with the oaring syringes and nipples but this morning he wouldn't eat he looks a bit skinny and im a little worried he wont make it. Im not sure what to do he refused the formula but I did get a little bit of water in him...

How are you mixing the formula? 2 parts hot water to 1 part powdered formula? Sometimes it takes a while for them to get used to the taste. Continue giving it even if it’s drop by drop.

No more rehydration solution with salt.

Sounds like more experienced hands are needed, do whatever it takes to save this little.
Outside being weak from lack of nutrition, water in itself is very easy to aspirate, had
this baby choked on "fluids" at anytime while being fed? Any sounds with breathing?
