I have a baby squirrel that I believe is 4 to 5 weeks old. He has been doing good, but right now he's doing a thing where he opens his mouth with each breath and he's making a clicking noise but it's originating from his mouth, not his lungs. He did blow formula out of his nose a few times yesterday. I can't tell if the noise is from him opening his mouth or not. This poor little guy has me stressed to the max, I don't want to lose him, I don't know if this is life threatening but I'm scared that it is. Sometimes he breathes without the open mouth and clicking noise. I have a video but I don't see an option to post it. Any help is really really appreciated!

Hold baby's chest to your ear like a phone, listen for a click sound from baby on both inhale and exhale.
If this baby has aspiration pneumonia he will need antibiotics asap, aspiration pneumonia will take them down fast.
Human meds can be used. Check to see what you may have, check with family and friends. All it would take is a pill or two.
Let us know what you can come up with, we can instruct you on how to dilute and dose.
You will need a 1cc syringe for dosing, we will need a weight on baby. All medications for squirrels are dosed by body weight.

Where in Fl are you? There’s members throughout the state that can help.

I don't hear anything from his lungs. It seems like he's breathing easier this morning, without the open mouth. He is sneezing though and last night it looked like he was sneezing up some mucus. We are searching high and low for some antibiotics, I know we had some before we moved but now it's lost on a box somewhere.

As for the other question, I'm sorta near destin.

He seems to be much better with a few sneezes here and there. he's still very active and he just peed on me with no stimulation so I think that's a good thing? I'm not sure how to tell when he's ready to eat solid food, I think he's still a ways off from that though. He's not eating as much as I would like him to, the most I've been able to feed him at once has been 8 ccs and then he refuses. He's pooping healthy poops and at least he's eating at all.

He may still have congestion in nose which "may" explain sneezing, keep a good eye on him.
In the meantime I would still try and locate an ab to have on hand in case it would be needed.
Is baby's eyes open yet? They normally will open at 5 weeks.
The first solid food they should be introduced to is a good quality rodent block.
They should be eating block well before other solids are introduced.

His eyes are well open actually, and he has little bottom teeth and top teeth. He grinds them together sometimes like rats do. I'm on the hunt for an ab and I'll post as soon as I get one. Would you recommend any brands for the rodent block?

The easiest and tastiest are Henrys Pivky eater blocks available online from Henry’s Pets. You only feed 2-3 a day along with healthy veggies. Another choice is Envigo Harlan Teklad block. It must be purchased online as well. It is a hard extruded block that is 100% nutritionally complete, but not as tasty. I’d still feed veggies with this block just for variety.

Sounds like aspiration pneumonia.

Vet script only Baytril, or, personally, when my girl had it, i used amoxicylin (i think) and dosed her in her formula. Cleared up pretty fast.

Even as an adult she has gotten it a second time because she still wants a bottle sometimes and sucks it down, and she likes to head dive into open glass beverages (everything's a vac sealed tumbler with a top now). Did the same, took about the same amount of time to clear up.

Weigh the baby, post it, and someone here will DM you with the dosing.

We've managed to get our hands on some 300mg Climdamycin.

I can work this up and send you dosing in a pm but will need a weight on the baby.
