I recently found a wild squirrel that I’ve known/fed for over a year (and which I’ve made a post about a couple days ago) and she was exhibiting the same exact behavior as

My question is: is there a specific illness that is causing this or that this behavior is a response to pain in general?
Thank you.

I am not sure what that behavior is indicating. I hope some other members will look at the video and recognize it. Poor thing. :boohoo

Poison or encounter with venomous snake perhaps?

There are number of possibilities but regardless of the cause, this little one really needs to be trapped and brought to a rehabber. It will not survive long out there in this state. If nothing else, trapping it and giving it a couple days of safety inside might give it the chance to recover if this is some type of poisoning or envenomation. Try to make water and food available for him so he will continue to stick around.

Is this the same squirrel that you previously posted a short video of in a prior thread?

If not, have you seen the other squirrel again? Were you able to capture it?

Okay. I now realize that the video you posted in this thread is a different squirrel, since the You Tube date stamp is 2012.

Yes it's a different squirrel but exhibits almost the same behavior as the squirrel you linked to. I was wondering whether someone recognizes what the illness might be.
Thanks all your inputs.
