The outdoor chipmunk that lives by my porch and comes to my window for snacks has 2 babies and they just started running around. One of them is half bald, with what looks like mange to me. The back of his body has the grayish thickened skin and no hair. He(it?) is super active and running around quite a bit. I tried to lace a nut and a banana with Ivermectin (which I have bc of my dog and I did dilute it after complex calculations to figure the right dose), however, since there are three of them, I have no way of knowing if he actually ate the medicine. I tried again today to feed him specifically, and I failed, because the mom kept showing up and trying to eat the laced raspberry.
I am wondering if anyone has any suggestions on how to make sure he eats the medicine? I am thinking about getting a Havahart trap from Lowes tomorrow, in hopes I can catch him, feed him and release him. Thoughts? I just don't think he is going to make it without some intervention and it looks like even a single dose could be beneficial.
My second question is: there seems to be conflicting info online as to how often to dose him, some sources say once a week is enough, others suggest every few days...
Any suggestions would be greatly welcome.
